Introduction
Norwich is a fine cathedral and university city situated on the River Wensum approximately 40 metres above
sea level, with the Rivers Yare, Tas and Bure also running through certain areas of the city.

Norwich is also famous for having the greatest number of medieval churches, of which there are more than 30, within
its city walls. Norwich was also once noted for being the centre for the textile and worsted trade and had
a prosperous past in this industry until the 19th Century.
Norwich today specialises in the footwear industry, amongst others, ensuring prosperity for a commercially healthy community.
